Welcome to Oak Mountain Temecula Winery
Nestled high atop the northeasterly hills of Temecula Valley Wine Country, are the vineyards and winery of Oak Mountain. This picturesque hillside vineyard estate produces the myriad of wines sampled in Oak Mountain Winery’s Tasting Room. Family owned and operated since the doors opened in 2000, owners Steve and Valerie invite you to join them in their growing tasting room just off the De Portola Wine Trail. These wines, vineyards, and winery are a true reflection of the relaxed and classic beauty standing timeless in Temecula Valley Wine Country.
Oak Mountain Winery owners Steve and Valerie Andrews came by their wine heritage quite naturally. Valerie's father Ed Snyder, and her uncle Jerry Snyder were partners in some of California’s pioneer wine shops. There were four stores starting in 1960, located in Garden Grove, Anaheim, North Long Beach, and Torrance. In the late 70’s they were named one of the 10 best wine shops in Southern California. The stores carried some of the best boutique wines of the time, including Heitz, Schramsberg sparkling wine, Callaway, Hart, Chateau St. Jean, and Caymus. As fate would have it, Valerie slowly found her way into the wine business as well. Ed decided it would be invaluable for his daughter Val and son-in-law Steve to see the Santa Barbara wine country. So he called in a few favors from friends at the wineries for V.I.P tours, to give them a comprehensive look at this budding wine community. Wine makers were born that day. With an intense, meticulous and insatiable desire to make the best wine possible, they set about to create the most incredible vineyards in Temecula Valley Wine Country. This winery now defines proprietor and wine maker Stephen Andrews. They opened the doors to their own winery in 2000, but were only giving tastings on a part-time basis from their beautiful barrel room on the Temecula Hills Estate. Loyal wine connoisseurs voiced their desire for longer wine tasting room hours and a closer location to the town of Temecula. In response, Steve and Valerie opened the Oak Mountain Winery in 2005 and have been growing their wine making business and vineyard ever since. Steve creates all of the award-winning and delicious wines. Valerie and their children have stepped in to run the tasting room, now open seven days a week. The hard work and dedication from both of them has allowed the Oak Mountain Winery to blossom into the successful and sought-after winery it is today.
Oak Mountain Winery is no stranger to growth in their tasting room. The wineries original tasting room was tucked away at their vineyard estate. Yet the public craved more. In 2005 at the demand for more wine and a convenient location, Oak Mountain Winery opened a tasting room just off of the De Portola Wine Trail. However, thanks to their loyal customers and expanding fan base, the winery began to grow out of this space as well. Yet, rather than expanding out, they will be expanding IN. In to the ground that is, with Temecula's first subterranean wine caves!
Construction has officially begun on their Caves at Oak Mountain Winery! The caves allow the winemakers to better utilize the land, as the vineyards will continue to grow above the cave construction. Wine caves also naturally create the ideal conditions for aging. Using geothermal technology, cave temperatures and humidity stay in a range best suited to this process. Even more incredibly, the caves won't just be ideal for barrel aging, but also for your special events. Offering banquet spaces for private parties and destination weddings, the summer of 2014 will see these impressive structures open to the public.
All wines offered at the Oak Mountain Winery are as unique as they are decadent. The smooth, varietal, and well-balanced attributes combined allow for a taste that is sure to procure a real sense of quality. Growing classic warm weather Mediterranean varieties of grapes which include Mourvedre, Viognier, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Zinfandel and SangioveseBrunello are keystone wines at this picturesque winery. Also included are some unique wine varietals such as Tempranillo, Primativo and our Grenache Blanc. In order to showcase all these characteristics they have developed three collections for everyone to enjoy. Some of the original wines developed by Steve, the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon can be found in the Temecula Hills Collection. Looking for something sweet to tickle your fancy?
